Privacy Policy for PocketDocs

Last updated: August 24, 2026

PocketDocs ("the App") is developed and maintained by Raviteja Mulukuntla ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.

1. No Data Collection

PocketDocs is a fully offline application. We do not collect, transmit, store on any server, or share any of your personal data, documents, images, or usage information. There are no accounts, no sign-in, and no cloud sync of any kind.

2. Where Your Data Is Stored

All documents, images, categories, groups, and settings you create in the App are stored locally on your device only, in a private database that only PocketDocs can access. This data is never uploaded anywhere. Android's automatic cloud backup is explicitly disabled for this App (allowBackup=false), so your documents never leave your device through system backups either.

3. Permissions We Use

Permission Why we need it
Camera To let you scan/photograph your documents. Photos are processed and saved only on your device.
Post Notifications To show a local reminder before a saved document's expiry date. No notification is sent from any server — it is scheduled and shown entirely on your device.
Receive Boot Completed To re-schedule your expiry reminders after your device restarts.

4. Third-Party Services

PocketDocs uses on-device machine learning (Google ML Kit Text Recognition) to extract text from images you choose to scan, for the "Document to Text" feature. This processing happens entirely on your device — no image or extracted text is sent to Google or any other server.

PocketDocs uses the Google Play In-App Update API solely to check whether a newer version of the App is available on the Play Store, so it can prompt you to update. This check does not share any personal data.

We do not use any analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or crash-reporting services that transmit data off your device.

5. App Lock

If you enable App Lock, PocketDocs uses your device's own existing biometric authentication or screen lock (fingerprint, face unlock, PIN, pattern, or password) via Android's standard BiometricPrompt system. We never collect, see, or store your biometric data or device credentials — that is handled entirely by the Android operating system.

6. Children's Privacy

PocketDocs does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all.

7. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
